How Badly Does A Hip Tattoo Hurt Compared To A Foot Tattoo?

The foot tattoo I received hurt a LOT, like someone dragging a hot knife in my skin. Will a hip tattoo be the same way?

I personally only have a hip tattoo, but I used to be friends with a guy who was a keen tattoo enthusiast with about 40… When I asked him which hurt most, he said foot, ribs and side of the knee. As other people have said, the most painful part of my tattoo was right on the hip bone, which I had to struggle to not flinch over, the rest was just a kind of incessant dragging pain that you mildly numb out to. So yes, I think that hip would be slightly less painful (assuming you’re not bone thin), but my advise would be to prepare yourself for equal amounts of pain (imagine how awful it’d be if you got half way through then whimped out), then hopefully you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

No one can truly answer a question pertaining to the amount of ‘pain’ a tattoo will cause you. Every single client feels ‘pain’ differently. Some can take foot tattoos like someone is drawing on them with a sharpie, some can’t handle outside the arm (commonly seen as the least ‘painful’) without crying. The short answer is that the more ‘padding’ you have in a place, the less painful it is. Anywhere that bones and tendons are close to the skin’s surface will generally be more ‘painful.’ Hips are not too bad according to the clients I see get them daily. Good luck!

my hip tattoo only hurt on the part that went over my hip bone. but it was not nearly enough to make me cry or even flinch. the rest of it that was on the fatty part of my hip did not hurt at all
i can’t imagine a foot tattoo :/
