Does A Tattoo Artist Need To Be Able To Do Piercings Too?

I want to be a tattoo artist, and get an apprenticeship. I have noticed though, that a lot of tattoo shops also do piercings. If I am a tattoo artist do i need to be able to do piercings aswell?

No, they are really separate professions. A full time tattoo artist has no time for anything else.
Note to everyone: When you see a tattoo shop sell anything else but tattoos, you know they are a bad shop, becauee they aren’t bringing in enough income from tattooing alone.

You don’t HAVE to do piercings, but it’s useful to know when working in a tattoo shop, since so many places that do tattoos, do piercings too. You’ll make more money knowing that skill too. The more skills you have the more useful you’ll be.

No you don’t need to be able to. Some do, but not all!
If you’re gonna work in a piercings and tattoo shop, then it’s fine to just do tattoos.
I want to undertake a piercing course, and I don’t intend to learn tattooing… so why should it be vice versa?

You would make more money. But the tattoo shop I go to, the guy only does piercings and the other one only does tats, and a couple of them can do both. But if you know how to do ore, you would make more tips and things. Up to you.

Not necessarily, but it’s a nice skill to have,
